Recently, the National Geographic Society included Vancouver amongst its list of the top ten beach cities in the world. This nod to the amazing lifestyle and beauty of Vancouver comes as no surprise to many of its residents. In fact, for those who live in the city, the beaches are merely one aspect of its appeal.
The National Geographic named Vancouver as one of the top ten beach cities to live in alongside the very prestigious list of other well known beach cities. The list included: Barcelona, Spain; Cape Town, South Africa, Honolulu, Hawaii; Nice, France; Miami Beach, Florida; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Santa Monica, California; Sydney, Australia; and Tel Aviv, Israel.
According to the list, Vancouver was rated Canada’s most adventurous metropolis. The ten beaches in the area and their diversity were part of what helped Vancouver make the list.
From the family-friendly Jerico Beach to nudist-loving Wreck Beach, Vancouver apparently has it all. The North Shore mountains and the Vancouver skyline were also cited as major attractions.
Kitsilano of course was mentioned as a perfect venue for the sportier types. With its tennis and basketball courts and state of the art and stylish custom pools, this beach is a favorite and offers something for everyone. Added to the Kits appeal is the fact that it is a mere six minute drive from downtown Vancouver. As any Kitsilano realtor knows, this is a major selling point for those who work in the downtown area.
Vancouver’s inclusion in the list will no doubt attract even more international buyers. For those who didn’t already know what an amazing place the city is to visit or live in, they will now.
